An Enforcement Directorate (ED) team has arrived at the home of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan’s residence on Monday morning in connection with a money laundering case.

Khan took to X and claimed that the ED team was at his house in Delhi’s Okhla to arrest him.

The lawmaker from Arvind Kejriwal’s party (AAP) further alleged that he has been “harassed” for two years by the ED which he claimed has slapped false cases against him.

‘Entire party targeted’

Khan further alleged that his entire party is being targeted. “The Chief Minister (Arvind Kejriwal) was in jail, Sanjay Singh was in jail, and Satyendra Jain is still in jail. Now they want to arrest me too. Their sole aim is to break us and our party. I request you all to pray for me,” he further said.

Meanwhile, visuals showed, Khan telling officials: “I want four weeks’ time. My mother-in-law has been operated upon.”

The man outside the gate replied, “Why do you believe we are here to arrest you?” The legislator replies, “Why else have you come?”

A woman, apparently Khan’s wife, was heard saying, “What do you need to search at a three-room house. Why do you have to turn my home upside down every time?”

“She has cancer and she has been operated upon. I will take you the court if anything happens to my mother. She can’t even stand,” the woman further said.

Previously, Khan was quizzed by ED for more than 12 hours for the money laundering case. The Delhi High Court, in March this year, had refused to grant the anticipatory bail to the AAP MLA, citing his repeated evasion of summons from investigating agencies. The Supreme Court had also denied him protection from arrest.

AAP hits out at BJP

After the reports of ED team carrying out searches at Khan’s residence on Monday morning, several top leaders of AAP including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh have hit out at the BJP government at the Centre and accused it of targeting those who raise their voice against the ruling party.

Taking to X, Sisodia said, “This is the only work left with ED. Suppress every voice raised against BJP. And jail the ones who do not break.”

AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who was also arrested earlier in a money laundering case, questioned if the probe against Khan is “comedy”.

Singh further claimed that the ED had no evidence against Khan and went on to allege that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “dictorshop” and the ED’s “hooliganism” continue.
