Dunk, smash, carry away: How to defuse bombs the Agra police way

If you’re Shah Rukh Khan then this is how you defuse a bomb:

But if you’re with the Agra police and are called in to handle a bunch of country-made bombs, that’s a pointless amount of flashback and technique. Here’s a three-step process patented by two of UP’s finest to dispose off country made bombs that were found outside a library: 1. Fill a container with water and take the bombs in hand and dunk them in it 2. Smash the bombs with sticks and stones 3. Take them by hand on a motorcycle to a safe place to get rid of them [caption id=“attachment_2162395” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![How a bomb disposal is typically done. Representational image. AFP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/bomb-disposal-AFP.jpg) How a bomb disposal is typically done. Representational image. AFP[/caption] According to a Times of India report, the two cops were called in after local residents found multiple country-made bombs near a library that was filled with people and had hundreds of students in the vicinity. In this scenario arrived the two police officials and after asking everyone to stand at a safe distance they checked the bombs before proceeding to dunk them in water. When a skeptical onlooker questioned the effectiveness of their method, they proceeded to beat the bombs with stones and once satisfied with the fact that the bombs hadn’t exploded, took them away on a motorcycle. The bomb squad reportedly later discovered that the country-made bombs did contain traces of explosives. It still isn’t clear why the two policemen decided not to call in the bomb squad and as a senior official noted, they hadn’t followed the ‘wisest course of action’. However, he also pointed out that their “intention can’t be faulted”. Indeed.
