PTI[/caption] Condoling his death, Jayalalithaa in a statement issued here said the legendary director also made his mark in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada movies. She said his stage plays - “Neerkumizhi”, “Major Chandrakanth”, “Ethir Neechal”, “Naanal”, “Vinodha Oppandam” - were hugely popular. Jayalalithaa said Balachander’s death was a great loss to the movie world and the void created by his demise cannot be filled by anybody else. IANS
