Chennai: AIADMK general secretary and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa said Tamil director K. Balachander made women-centric movies and would dwell on problems faced by them. She said his stage plays - “Neerkumizhi”, “Major Chandrakanth”, “Ethir Neechal”, “Naanal”, “Vinodha Oppandam” - were hugely popular. Jayalalithaa said Balachander’s death was a great loss to the movie world and the void created by his demise cannot be filled by anybody else. IANS
