Did you know: Gen VK Singh is a small time movie star!

[caption id=“attachment_190704” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“A screen grab of the scene featuring the army commander”] [/caption] Thanks to all the media attention surrounding the issue, everyone knows about the age row scandal and how army chief General VK Singh has taken the government to court. What a lot of people don’t know however, is that apart from being a military man and aggrieved soldier, the army chief also has a movie role to his name. General VK Singh had a cameo role in the 1991 film Prahaar:The Final Attack, starring Nana Patekar, Gautam Joglekar, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia. The Wikipedia entry on the movie describing the row says, “He appears on-screen when a Colonel briefs Major Chavhan on the mission to rescue school kids who are held hostage by militants. The Colonel says, “We have some slides of the area; Colonel V. K. Singh will explain it to you.” The film focuses on the Indian army, and an idealistic and brave military commander fighting injustice. The General speaking to the India Today Newspaper on his role said, “They were shooting the film in the centre and wanted a real officer to sit in the scene”.
