Delhi taxi driver loses arm after he objects to men jumping queue at CNG station

Taking objection to a display of lack of civic sense is evidently fraught with dangers in India. A taxi driver in Delhi lost his arm in a brutal assault after he objected to people jumping the queue at a CNG station, reported The Indian Express. This was the latest in a series of similar incidents across the country recently. [caption id=“attachment_2391224” align=“alignleft” width=“380” class=" “] ![Representational image. He was quoted in the The Indian Express report as saying that on August 5, he had been waiting in queue at a CNG station for 15 minutes when he saw a car jump the line and stop in front of him. When he objected, he was slapped by the driver. After an altercation, he was about to call the police, when he was assaulted with baseball bats by four men who were travelling in the car. Later, they also stabbed him on his arm thrice. According to him, while several people saw the incident take place, no one came forward to help. Doctors had to amputate his arm after he suffered multiple fractures. A similar incident took place in Delhi recently when a youth from Manipur was assaulted after he objecting to a man spitting in public. The Indian Express then quoted the man as saying that he got into an argument with a man after the spit fell on his shoe and trousers. The man, along with two others, assaulted the youth, leaving him unconscious. In June, a journalist in Mathura was assaulted till he was unconscious after he spoke out against dumping of garbage on the roadside.
