Delhi Police official commits suicide in Noida, wife jumps off balcony

New Delhi: A senior Delhi Police official allegedly shot himself dead after which his wife jumped from the balcony of their apartment in Noida Sector 100 on Monday. Reuters[/caption] The deceased identified as Amit Singh, was posted as an assistant commissioner in the Special Cell of Delhi Police. He was a DANIP officer of 2010 batch, police said. After the incident, residents of the building called up the police control room, following which the couple was rushed to a hospital where Singh was declared brought dead and his wife was admitted in a critical condition, police said. The reason behind the couple taking the extreme step has not been ascertained yet. The couple have a two-year-old child. PTI
