New Delhi: Delhi’s most wanted criminal Neetu Dabodia was killed in a police shootout near Hyatt Hotel near the Vasant Kunj area in south Delhi late on Thursday. The meeting was called to plan a big strike in Delhi, sources told HT. According to a report in The Times of India, Delhi Police hatched a plan based on the tip-off to trap the gangster and several teams including ACP Manishi Chandra were behind him. The final encounter reportedly took place around 10. 30pm when officers of the special cell led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav intercepted Dabodia’s car near Vasant Kunj. Dabodia opened indiscriminate fire on the cops and around 30 bullets were exchanged in the cross-fire though the cops managed to get the upper ground on him. Neetu Dobadia carried a reward of Rs 7 lakh. He was involved in several cases of extortion, contract killing and murder, including his purported involvement in the murder of head constable Ram Kishan last year. Dabodia had escaped from Haryana Police’s custody when he was being brought from Bhondsi Jail to Saket court in August 2012. He has also killed a head constable on Delhi-Harayana border in November 2012.
