For the first time in 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms a government in Delhi, with a grand oath-taking ceremony for first-time MLA Rekha Gupta at the city’s famous Ramlila Maidan. Her Cabinet comprises Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Singh, Manjinder Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, Ravinder Indraj, according to a government notification. The oath-taking ceremony caps the 11 days of suspense since the Delhi election results were announced on February 8. The BJP unseated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which made a remarkable debut in politics in 2013, upsetting the three-term incumbent government led by Sheila Dikshit of the Congress. Dikshit had become the chief minister in 1998, when the Congress last won a Delhi election, defeating the BJP.
