 "AAP minister Atishi's health condition 'very bad', admitted in ICU of Delhi's LNJP hospital")
The health condition of Delhi Water Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi is “very bad” and she was admitted to LNJP Hospital at 3:48 am on Tuesday, said the hospital’s medical director Suresh Kumar.
Atishi has been on an indefinite fast since June 21 to protest against the alleged reduced supply of water in the national capital by the Haryana government.
Her health deteriorated on the fourth day of her fast on Monday and on early Tuesday, she was rushed to the emergency ward of the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital after her blood sugar level dropped to 36 mg/dL.
“At the time of admission, she was drowsy, her blood sugars were very low and ketones were present in the urine,” Medical Director of LNJP Hospital, Suresh Kumar, further said.
“In the morning (on Tuesday), she was shifted here in the Emergency ICU. Right now her vital parameters, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and blood sugar is normal and she is also taking oral fluids. Right now she is stable,” Kumar added.

In a statement, AAP said that Atishi’s weight and blood pressure were decreasing rapidly, which doctors from LNJP Hospital said was concerning and “dangerous”.
“Water Minister Atishi’s weight is also decreasing unexpectedly. Before sitting on hunger strike on June 21, her weight was 65.8 kg, down to 63.6 kg on the fourth day. That is, her weight has decreased by 2.2 kg in just 4 days,” the statement mentioned.

On Monday evening, a team of doctors from LNJP visited the site where Atishi was fasting. They did all the vital parameters and blood tests, and it was found that her blood sugar was very low.
“She was advised admission to the hospital but she refused, but we took the IV sample and in the report, it was found that her blood sugar was very low, her Sodium level was 127 and she was feeling weak and drowsy,” Kumar said.
Why is Atishi on indefinite fast?
Atishi began her indefinite hunger strike on June 21 in South Delhi’s Bhogal to press the demand for more water from neighbouring Haryana state.
The Delhi minister claimed that Haryana for the past couple of weeks has been releasing 100 million gallons per day less water to Delhi against its share of 613 MGD and this has been affecting around 28 lakh people in the capital city.
In a video message from her ‘Jal Satyagrah’ venue, Atishi said she will not eat anything till Haryana releases more water for the people of Delhi.
