Delhi excise policy case: Kejriwal skips third ED summons, BJP says Delhi CM has something to hide

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday wrote to the Enforcement Directorate that he will skip the third summons in the Delhi excise policy case after his party termed the probe agency notice “illegal”. “Ready to cooperate in ED investigation but the agency’s notice is illegal. Their intention is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. They want to stop him from election campaign,” AAP said in a statement.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will not go to the ED office today, CM wrote to ED.

Kejriwal was summoned on Wednesday for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case. This was the third ED notice to Kejriwal, also the AAP’s convener, after he refused to appear before the federal agency on two earlier summonses for 2 November and 21 December. Reacting to the development, BJP said that Kejriwal has something to hide and that is why he is absconding like a criminal.

“Today, once again Arvind Kejriwal has skipped the third summon. This shows that there is something to hide, and that is why he is absconding like a criminal…Courts have not given bail to Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, and the courts have established that there is a money trail, despite all this they are playing the same victim card…,” said BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said Kejriwal has become the biggest cheater of his own ideology.

“I want to ask Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal a question when Lokpal Bill was under discussions, I used to discuss the same with him. We told him that the Lokpal you’re trying to make may be misused if the wrong person becomes a Lokpal and the government could misuse it. He said that a political leader should be transparent. If there is any allegation against them, they should resign…and they should also surrender if they get arrested and if one is innocent then it will be proved…He should at least stick to his words. I believe he’s become the biggest cheater of his own ideology…,” said Dikshit. With inputs from agencies
