President Murmu, Jaishankar, CM Atishi among early voters

As voting got underway, early voters included Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union ministers S. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, and President Droupadi Murmu.

Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz were among the other notable figures who turned out to vote. Shortly after voting started at 7 a.m., candidates for the AAP’s Greater Kailash, the BJP’s Karawal Nagar, the Congress’ New Delhi, and Kalkaji, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kapil Mishra, and Alka Lamba, also cast ballots.

In the first election of 2025, over 15.5 million voters will cast ballots throughout Delhi beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. This is the result of a fierce assembly struggle for the Capital that will have significant political ramifications across the country.

All 70 seats in the nation’s capital are expected to cast ballots today, setting the stage for the Delhi Assembly Elections. In order to determine Delhi’s political destiny, more than 1.55 crore registered voters will cast ballots starting at 7:00 am and ending at 6:00 pm. On February 8, the election results will be made public.

For the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won sizable victories in 2015 and 2020 but has spent the majority of the last five years fighting corruption accusations that have sent almost all of its front-line leadership to prison, the elections are essentially a referendum.
