Delhi Exit Poll Results 2025 Live: BJP sweeps AAP out of power to make a comeback after 25 years, predict pollsters

Talking about the exit poll numbers that have given a clear edge to his party, the BJP candidate from Kalkaji, said, “This is the Modi wave. The people of Delhi want development just like there has been development in the rest of the country under PM Narendra Modi.”

Meanwhile, pollster WeePreside has predicted a win for the Aam Aadmi Party in the national capital.

Till now, polls of poll has predicted a clear majority for the Bharatiya Janata Party with four exit polls forecasting its win in the national capital.

A party needs to win 36 out of 70 seats to win the Delhi Assembly elections.

As the voting process comes to an end, all eyes are on the exit polls which will give an insight into who is expected to win the Delhi assembly elections.

Will the BJP be able to break its 27-year-old jinx or will the Aam Aadmi retain its power in the national capital? The high-stakes elections saw a voter turnout of 57.70 per cent till 5 pm, which is the highest in years.

The counting of votes for 70 assembly seats will take place on February 8.

BJP’s Seelampur assembly constituency candidate Anil Gaur said, “These 300-400 fake voters have been brought from Loni in Uttar Pradesh, I feel like they are Bangladeshis, there are both men and women. We caught such 25 people, there is fake voting happening here. We have stopped it.”

BJP workers held a protest in the Seelampur assembly constituency where the party alleged that fake voters cast their ballots.

High drama unfolded in Seelampur when a BJP leader accused some people wearing burqas of attempting to vote fraudulently. However, police denied any fake voting in the area.

Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Wednesday alleged that the security personnel deployed outside the polling stations not allowing their relievers to go inside the polling booth.

Chadha claimed that they have received several such complaints in almost half the booths in the New Delhi assembly constituency as the national capital held polls for its eighth Assembly.

AAP candidate from Okhla assembly seat Amanatullah Khan has alleged that the BJP has deliberately slowed down the voting process, and barricades have been placed at various locations. “The fewer the votes, the more beneficial it will be for BJP.”, he said.

Delhi Police on Wednesday rebutted AAP candidate Manish Sisodia’s allegation that the BJP was openly taking voters to a building in Jangpura constituency and distributing money to them.

The Delhi Police said in a statement, “The allegations of distribution of money could not be substantiated. The situation is under control and the confusion has been cleared.”
Aam Aadmi Party on its official handle on X alleged that money is being distributed to voters adjacent to the BJP booth in the Jangpura assembly.

As voting is underway for Delhi assembly elections, a voter turnout of 33.31 per cent was recorded till 1 pm on Wednesday, according to the Election Commission of India.

The North-East district of the national capital continues to lead the way with the highest turnout of 39.51 per cent turnout among all districts.

The lowest turnout of 29.74 per cent was recorded in the Central district of Delhi.

According to the ECI, the South West district recorded a turnout of 35.44 per cent, New Delhi 29.89 per cent, East 33.66 per cent, North 32.44 per cent, North West 33.17 per cent, Shahdara 35.81 per cent, South 32.67 per cent, South East 32.27 per cent and West 30.87 per cent, as of 1 pm.

Heavy police deployment has been witnessed outside a polling booth in Seelampur after the BJP alleged that fake votes were being cast. Voting is underway for 70 seats in the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

AAP candidate from the Greater Kailash Assembly seat, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has alleged that Delhi Police is trying to stop people from casting their votes at a polling station in Chirag Delhi.

Bharadwaj said, “You have been standing here since morning to influence elections. Why have the barricades been put up here? Which senior officer of the Delhi Police has ordered them to be placed? This is all being done to disturb the poor villagers.”

He emphasised that the Malviya Nagar ACP and SHO are openly carrying out such actions wherever AAP has a stronghold. “Did Virendra Sachdeva or President Murmu get out of the car 200 meters away from the polling station? There are no guidelines…”, he said.

An attempt to cast ‘fake votes’ has been made in the Kasturba Nagar assembly constituency of Delhi, said Delhi Police sources to ANI.

As per the sources, two people attempted to cast fake votes at Savodaya Vidyalaya in the Andrews Ganj area of the Kasturba Nagar assembly constituency.

They have been caught by the Delhi Police and are being interrogated.

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has alleged that former Chaupal Head of the Valmiki community, Uday Gill, has been kept at the police station since 8:30 AM.

He said that Gill, who enjoys a good reputation in his community and has been working for them for years, has been held at the police station since 8:30 AM without any reason. “Nobody is ready to tell us the reason for the same.

“I appeal to the people of the Valmiki community in Delhi—vote against this ‘gundagardi,’ against this tyranny… Answer this with the power of your vote. “Rs 2,000–3,000 was distributed in North Avenue N Block today, and people’s fingers were inked. When I reached there, they fled in a vehicle that had a registration plate from Haryana. This is happening right under the nose of the Election Commission. Is this a joke? False cases are being slapped on us,” said Singh.

Former Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud casted his vote for the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections on Wednesday.

After casting his vote, Chandrachud said, “I think our democracy is extraordinarily mature, and people are cognizant of their responsibilities. They know which way to cast their vote… The Supreme Court has repeatedly, repeatedly upheld the validity of our EVMs. The Supreme Court, as the last voice in the constitutional space on adjudication, has affirmed the validity of the EVMs, and I think we must accept it—that’s the verdict of the Supreme Court.”

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Wednesday cast her vote for the Delhi assembly polls and appealed to the voters to participate in the “biggest festival of democracy” by casting their vote and exercising their democratic rights.

Emphasising the importance of the voting, Maliwal said that the people’s votes are important as they will decide the future of the national capital, adding that she has cast her vote for the development of Delhi.

After casting her vote, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal said, “I appeal to the people of Delhi to come out in large numbers and cast their votes. Your votes are very important; they will decide the future of the national capital. I have also cast my vote for the development of Delhi. The people of Delhi must participate in the biggest festival of democracy and must cast their votes…”

Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, cast his vote in the Delhi Assembly polls at a polling booth in Raj Niwas Marg on Wednesday.

He said that he wanted the people of Delhi to create a record in the voting.

“I have appealed to the people of Delhi to vote in large numbers. I want the people of Delhi to create a record in the voting,” Saxena told ANI after casting his vote at the polling booth in St Xavier’s School.

He emphasised that this election is crucial in deciding the future of the city, citing pressing issues like pollution, garbage management, and the cleaning of the Yamuna River.

As voting got underway, early voters included Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union ministers S. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, and President Droupadi Murmu.

Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz were among the other notable figures who turned out to vote. Shortly after voting started at 7 a.m., candidates for the AAP’s Greater Kailash, the BJP’s Karawal Nagar, the Congress’ New Delhi, and Kalkaji, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kapil Mishra, and Alka Lamba, also cast ballots.
