New Delhi: Self-styled spiritual leader Asaram Bapu has been booked for sexual assault following a complaint from a minor girl, Delhi Police said on Wednesday. According to police, the minor submitted a written complaint against Asaram Bapu at Kamala Market police station in central Delhi on Tuesday evening. [caption id=“attachment_1049127” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Self-styled spiritual leader Asaram Bapu.[/caption] “We registered the complaint, but the girl said the incident occurred in Rajasthan, so the case will be forwarded to Rajasthan,” a police officer told IANS. Asaram Bapu, who has a large following, was earlier in the news after Gujarat Police filed a case of attempted murder against him and two others. He was also accused of illegal land-grabbing in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. After the 16 December, 2012 gangrape of a 23-year-old student in a Delhi bus, Asaram Bapu attracted much attention for his remark that the victim could have escaped rape if she had called her attackers brothers, and pleaded to be let off.
