Delhi Police today said that Nitesh Bhardwaj, younger son of murdered business tycoon and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Deepak Bhardwaj, was the main conspirator in the plot to assassinate his father. “There was tension brewing in the family of Deepak Bhardwaj over ownership of his huge property. It was he gave the contract to kill his father,” Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of police, told a press conference. Explaining the chain of events, Sharma said, “Nitesh was in touch with one advocate Baljeet Singh who then contacted a godman Swami Pratibhanand to get Deepak killed.” [caption id=“attachment_692256” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

The whole deal was fixed at Rs 2 crore,” she said. The police officer said while Swami Pratibhanand was on the run and cops are on the lookout for him, Nitesh, Baljeet and Manu were all arrested. The police also recovered Rs 30 lakh in cash, two country-made pistols, one Marurti Swift and a Santro car from the accused. Ever since the murder, the police had refused to rule out the involvement of family members and had questioned Bhardwaj’s wife and sons in the past.
