Deepak Bhardwaj murder: Driver detained, lookout notices for gunmen

The police has reportedly detained the man who drove the killers of BSP leader Deepak Bhardwaj to the murdered businessman’s farmhouse in  New Delhi, and has also issued lookout notices for the men who had committed the murder. The 62-year-old Bhardwaj was killed by gunmen in his farmhouse on 26 March by unknown gunmen, who met with the BSP leader before shooting him and fleeing. The man, suspected of having driven the accused to Bhardwaj’s residence, was reportedly detained from Delhi and police suspect that the reason behind the murder was a financial dispute over the BSP leader’s wealth, estimated at around Rs 600 crore. Image courtesy: CNN-IBN[/caption] The suspect, who is being identified as Amit, could be produced before the person who sold the car used by the killers to commit the crime. While the police has remained tight-lipped over the alleged detention, a Times of India report stated that Amit had given details of the killers and had said they may have fled to other parts of the country or even Nepal. The police suspect the amount paid to the killers would be a large amount due to the fact that a luxury car was bought to ferry the killers to Bhardwaj’s residence and have issued notices to airports seeking the detention of two suspects identified as Purushottam Rana and Sunil. The police have also questioned Bhardwaj’s wife and son as part of the investigations into whether anyone known to the businessman had any grudge against him.
