The 2009 batch IAS officer was the Joint Commissioner in State Commercial Taxes Department and was found dead in the Madivala locality of Bengaluru on Monday. Prima facie police said that the case looks like suicide although no suicide note has been recovered as of now. Stepping up the pressure, BJP MPs from Karnataka on Thursday protested outside the Parliament in Delhi, demanding a CBI probe into the death, and slammed the Congress government in the state over the issue. Amidst outrage over his mysterious death, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and IAS officers Association also demanded CBI probe into the case. In the latest development, the Karnataka government has decided to hand over the probe into the death to the CBI. A decision on the same was taken late Thursday night. The state government had earlier ruled out a CBI inquiry and had ordered an investigation by the state police. Opposition parties have been protesting the state’s move to not hand the case over to the central agency. (With inputs from PTI)
