Criminal Defamation Case: Surat court rejects Rahul Gandhi's plea for stay on conviction

Surat: In a major setback for Rahul Gandhi, a court here on Thursday rejected the Congress leader’s application for a stay on his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his “Modi surname” remark. The court of additional sessions judge RP Mogera rejected Rahul Gandhi’s application filed for a relief pending his appeal against a lower court’s order sentencing him to two years in jail in the case, PTI reported.
