Yadav Singh, an engineer in Uttar Pradesh allegedly amassed so much wealth by illegal means that it has forced the income tax officials to work overtime to get the complete details of the wealth gathered.

According to a India Today report the department is “yet to drill out the full detail of his illgotten wealth even after twenty raids”.

On Friday, the income tax department raided his place to recover diamonds worth a whopping Rs 100 crore, 2 kg of gold and Rs 10 crore in cash.

A report in the DNA said : “On Thursday, too, the income tax department had simultaneously raided about two dozen locations related to Singh in NCR. The IT sleuths have unveiled a web of shell companies floated by the engineer in fake names, a number of bank lockers yet to be opened, and details of numerous ‘benami’ properties.”

The incident has come as a huge embarrassment for the Samajwadi Party-led Akhilesh Yadav government.

Singh, meanwhile, was shunted out of the post of Chief Project Engineer and will no longer be looking after the three authorities of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway. A red-faced Uttar Pradesh government has shifted him to Noida’s CEO office till investigations against him are completed."— the India Today report said .

We have found evidence to prove that Singh has unaccounted assets. We have seized laptops and documents. We will reveal all details in a day or two,” Krishna Saini, Director (Investigation), Income Tax department, Uttar Pradesh told India Today .

Singh was involved in graft earlier as well and was even suspended by the Mayawati government. The state police had declared as an absconder and even lodged an FIR against him in a Rs 954-crore properties scam in March 2012, the DNA said.

However, the Akhilesh government had surprisingly reinstated him in November 2013.
