It seems that even homes of politicians are not safe in the National Capital.
Congress MP from Thiruvananathapuram Shashi Tharoor’s house at Lodhi Estate was burgled on the night of 29 November. Several idols, including an antique Nataraja idol, and a “copper Gandhi glass”, gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stolen, according to a report in The Indian Express . The accused are yet to be apprehended by the police.
The police has filed a case under IPC section 380/457 for burglary at the Tughlak Road police station following a complaint by Tharoor.
According to Tharoor’s statement, one of the employees at the parliamentarian’s house saw the locks of the office broken the next morning. Police suspect the burglary may be the handiwork of the vagabonds in the area. “It is a common problem here. A few weeks ago, a signage was reported stolen near the former minister’s house,” an investigating officer was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.
According to ANI , along with several idols, 12 32-GB pen drives and an internet dongle was also stolen from the house.
Following the complaint, an investigation team from the Tughlak Road police station reached the spot.
“A forensics team was also called in to lift fingerprints and footprints,” an investigation officer was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.
