Home Minister P Chidambaram said that while he agreed with Pakistani Foreign Minister Rahman Malik that Jundal was an Indian citizen and probably got radicalized in India, Pakistan also had to admit certain facts. “Mr Malik must admit that Abu Jundal was in Pakistan. He must admit that he carried out terror attacks from inside Pakistan”, he told reporters at his monthly briefing. Home Secretary RK Singh sitting with the Minister at the time said, “Pakistan must admit the fact that they gave him a passport. They must admit the fact that they gave him two identification cards.” [caption id=“attachment_361921” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Chidambaram said that Pakistan must admit facts: AFP”] [/caption] Chidambaram also told media that while he commended their “enthusiasm” in reporting various facts that had supposedly come out of Jundal’s interrogation he could not confirm or deny every little report. However he said, he could confirm the fact that Jundal was a key operative in the 26/11 attacks and was responsible for conducting an intensive Hindi tutoring course for the gunmen and in teaching them Mumbaikar customs. He also said that it was clear that the attacks had been coordinate from a control room in Karachi and that the government was of the opinion that such a control room could not have existed without some level of state support. “From what Abu Jundal tell us, that training was conducted in more than one place - what infrastructure was provided, etc. a logical inference that we must make was that all this could not have been carried out in the open without some level of state support”, he said. He also said that the names “Abu Hamza” and “Abu Jundal” were aliases that had been used by more than one person involved in the attacks. Responding to a question, the Home Minister added that they would share information with Pakistan if they were assured that the sharing of such information would put pressure on Pakistan to apprehend those responsible for various attacks.
