Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu swearing-in ceremony as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has now likely been postponed to June 12.

Earlier, Naidu was expected to take oath as the Andhra CM on June 9.

Why Naidu oath taking ceremony has been postponed?

Naidu’s swearing-in ceremony has been changed as Narendra Modi will take oath as the prime minister for a record third consecutive term on June 8.

To attend Modi’s oath-taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Naidu will be in New Delhi. He was in the national capital on Wednesday (June 5) for a crucial NDA partners’ meet where he and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar assured their “firm” support to the BJP-led alliance.

Naidu wants Modi, NDA leaders in his oath-taking ceremony

Naidu will become the chief minister of Andhra for the fourth time. He first held the post between 1995 and 1999 and then from 1999 to 2004.

His third term as the Andhra CM came after the bifurcation of the state in 2014. Naidu went on to complete his chief ministerial tenure from 2014 to 2019 before YSR Congress’ Jagan Mohan Reddy took the charge.

Naidu wants to invite Modi as well as other NDA leaders to his swearing-in ceremony which will be taking place in Amaravati, the state’s capital.

His party, TDP, is planning to organise Naidu’s swearing-in ceremony on a grand scale.

In Andhra Pradesh, out of total 175 seats in the Assembly, TDP won a whopping 135, whereas the Jana Sena got 21 seats. The BJP secured victory on eight seats.

Meanwhile, Naidu will work on his cabinet in the state and also will decide those who are to join the Union Cabinet. Sources said TDP is likely to get four to five berths in Narendra Modi’s new Cabinet.
