The stalking, which created ripples across the country, took place on 4 August , when Kundu accused Vikas, the son of Haryana BJP chief Santosh Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar of following her car in the middle of the night in Chandigarh.

The two men were arrested following her complaint but were released on bail as they had been booked under bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.

However, they were arrested again on 9 August after they joined the police investigation and were then charged with attempted abduction under sections 365 and 511 of the IPC.

On 29 August, civil judge Barjidner Pal Singh had dismissed the bail pleas of the two accused. On 12 September too, an Additional District and Sessions court dismissed the bail plea after arguments in the case carried on for over an hour.
