A 24-year-old food delivery agent was mowed down by a couple in an act of road rage in Bengaluru, killing the man. CCTV footage of the crime shows a car chasing the delivery agent and finally crushing him to death. The couple later returned to the scene to collect parts of the car.
Police have arrested Manoj Kumar (32), a martial arts trainer from Kerala, and his wife Aarati Sharma (30), from Jammu & Kashmir, for allegedly killing the victim, Darshan. The couple has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
What happened?
CCTV footage obtained by police from Nataraja Layout in South Bengaluru shows how a minor road incident escalated into a fatal attack.
Around 9 pm, Darshan’s scooter accidentally grazed Kumar’s car, slightly damaging its right rear-view mirror. Although Darshan apologised and drove off, he was reportedly on his way to deliver food, Kumar allegedly became enraged.
A senior investigating officer said, “Losing control of himself, he took a U-turn, chased the scooter, and rammed it from behind. The impact threw Darshan and his pillion rider Varun onto the road.”

Upon examining the footage, the police were shocked to find that the incident was not an accident but was done deliberately. The same car that the couple was driving came back to the crime scene. The couple, wearing masks, parked nearby and collected parts of their car that had broken off during the impact. As they left again, CCTV cameras captured their faces clearly," the officer said.
The footage enabled police to identify the car and track the couple to their home. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar confirmed the arrests, saying, “The accused have confessed to their involvement.” While Manoj claimed he was alone during the ramming incident and that Aarati joined him later only to collect the car parts, police said they are verifying his account.
