Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has found a new word to slam the Narendra Modi government: ‘Chakravyuh’.

Just the Kauravas trapped the Abhimanya, the son of Arjuna, in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, the Modi government has trapped Indians in various kinds of ‘chakravyuhs’ today, said Rahul, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Rahul went on to say that the youth, farmers, women, and the small and medium businesses were the Abhimanyus of present-day.

“Thousands of years ago in Kurukshetra, six individuals trapped Abhimanyu in a ‘Chakravyuh’ and killed him. I discovered that ‘Chakravyuh’ is also known as ‘Padmavyuh’, meaning ‘Lotus formation’, as it resembles a lotus. In the 21st century, a new ‘Chakravyuh’ has been created, symbolised by the lotus. The Prime Minister wears this symbol on his chest. What happened to Abhimanyu is now happening to India – to the youth, farmers, women, and small and medium businesses,” said Rahul in Hindi.

‘You build chakravyuh, we break it’

Speaking in the ongoing Budget Session, Rahul said while the Modi government built the chakravyuh, the INDIA bloc of the Opposition would break it.

The Chakrabyuh is a reference to the maize-like military formation in the Hindu epic Maharabharata. It was a complex formation that only few expert warriors could breach through.

Rahul said the INDIA bloc will break the chakravyuh by conducting the caste census.

Rahul further said that the INDIA bloc will provide the minimum support price (MSP) to farmers by passing a law for it in the parliament.

Probe agencies drive chakravyuh, Budget strengthens it: Rahul

Rahul said that while the Opposition had hoped the Union Budget 2024 would bring relief, it further plunged the people in the Chakravyuh.

“My expectation was that this budget would weaken this ‘chakravyuh’. We expected that it would help farmers, labourers and small and medium businesses. But the sole aim of the business is to strengthen the framework of monopoly business, political monopoly and the deep state or the agencies,” said Rauhl.

Rahul further said that three forces were driving the ‘chakravyuh’: the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax (IT) department.

Rahul rakes up Agniveer issue

Raising the issue of the Agnipath military recruitment scheme, Rahul said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had misled the house.

Rahul said that while Rajnath had said that Rs 1 crore compensation was paid to the family, the money was paid from the insurance amount.

Rahul further said that the Budget 2024 did not allocate any money for pension of Agniveers, the soldiers recruited under the Agnipath scheme.
