Budget 2014: Rs. 50,000 crore set aside for a four-point urbanization plan

In his maiden speech at the Union Budget 2014, finance minister Arun Jaitley mentioned the need to make Indian cities and towns undergo urban renewal.

He mentioned a four-point agenda to achieve this end – the provision for safe drinking water and sewerage management, the use of recycled water for growing organic fruits and vegetables, solid waste management and digital connectivity.
