Brave girl brandishes sword at five armed robbers, chases them away

Bhopal: A 21-year-old girl brandished a sword to chase away five unidentified armed robbers from her house and thwarted their robbery bid. Acknowledging her courageous act, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur, who visited the girl’s residence on Thursday, said he would recommend her name for bravery award. Reuters[/caption] The brave heart, Charanpreet Kaur (21), was studying for her second-year engineering examinations on the second floor of their Ansal Pradhan enclave residence, when she heard some noise in the early hours yesterday. She saw some masked men downstairs who had sneaked into their house. While all her family members were asleep on the first floor, Charanpreet applied presence of mind and immediately whipped out an over 4-feet long sword from its sheath. She screamed at the robbers with the sword in her hand and started rushing down while calling her father, Harvinder Singh Dheer (51), a civil contractor, to bring another sword. The robbers got scared seeing the sword in her hand and fled from there. After the girl narrated the incident to Gaur, he patted her for the brave act and likened her to “Jhansi ki Rani.” The girl told Gaur how she chased away the robbers who had entered their house a little before dawn yesterday. Gaur said he will recommend her name for bravery award and added that her story of courage will be carried in a magazine going to be brought out by his department shortly. He lauded the girl’s courage and said that she will be honoured for her daring act. PTI
