BJP national vice president Jay Panda gets death threat, warned of facing same fate as Odisha minister Naba Das

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President Jay Panda has received a threat call where the caller threatened to kill him. The call was received by an assistant of the BJP National Vice President in which the caller threatened that “the same thing will be done to Jay Panda which was done to Naba Das.” Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das was gunned down in a broad daylight on 29 January. “Whether this constitutes a real threat or was a juvenile prank is not possible for us to determine. Since such a message should not be taken lightly, a complaint with all details of the threat call has been lodged with the Delhi Police yesterday who are investigating into the matter,” a release from the office of Baijayant “Jay” Panda said on Thursday.

The former minister of Health and Family Welfare in Odisha government, Das, was shot dead by ex-police officer Gopal Krishna Das as he allegedly felt threatened by him and his supporters and feared for his life. After concluding the investigation into the murder case of Naba Das, the Crime Branch of Odisha police had submitted a 543-page preliminary charge-sheet at Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Jharsuguda. It took the police 118 days to submit the preliminary chargesheet after the planned murder of the Odisha minister.
