BJP MP honey trap case: Delhi police to file supplementary chargesheet before court

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has informed a special court that it will file a supplementary charge sheet in a case involving a woman and two others for allegedly organising a honey trap and blackmailing BJP MP KC Patel. The investigating officer told the court that the forensic science laboratory result was awaited and after receiving it, the probe agency would file the supplementary report. Special Judge Hemani Malhotra put up the matter for 26 July for scrutiny of documents annexed with the charge sheet, and for hearing the bail application of accused Ajay Kumar. The copies of charge sheet and other documents were also supplied to the three accused. [caption id=“attachment_3800365” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. AFP[/caption] The court had earlier taken cognisance of the charge sheet for alleged offences of extortion, criminal conspiracy, taking gratification by corrupt or illegal means to influence a public servant and other charges under the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act against a 40-year-old woman, businessman Ajay Kumar alias Ajay Pal Chauhan and Mitrapal. While the woman and Kumar are in judicial custody, Mitrapal has not yet been arrested. The woman was arrested on 2 May by Delhi Police from her Ghaziabad residence. Kumar was arrested on 9 June from Connaught Place here on the basis of a tip-off received by the police. According to the prosecution, the woman had allegedly filmed obscene videos of the Gujarat’s Valsad MP after drugging him and had threatened to make them public if she was not paid Rs 7 crore. Kumar had allegedly helped the woman in the execution of the offence. Patel had filed a complaint alleging that he was drugged by the woman at her Ghaziabad house and obscene videos and photographs of him were taken by her. The court had noted that as per the woman’s statement, it was Kumar who had helped her record the sex video. The police had told the court that such videos had been made by the accused earlier involving two politicians and a substantial amount of money was extorted from them. The woman, along with Kumar and Mitrapal, had gone to the flat of Patel to extort money threatening that they would post the video on social media, it had said. The woman had also approached a Delhi court, claiming the police did not act on her rape complaint against Patel. However, her plea was dismissed.
