BJP leader Laxmi Chawla asks Narendra Modi, Piyush Goyal to let go of bullet train, focus on improving existing fleet of railways

In a video shared online, Punjab BJP leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla is seen asking the railway minister Piyush Goyal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to let go of the dream of a bullet train and rather improve the condition of the present fleet of general trains available with the railways. The video, which was shared online by The Print’s journalist Chitleen K Sethi shows Chawla claiming that the trains in India lack basic amenities. Chawla said that even though the condition of super-fast trains like the Shatabdi Express has improved, the trains which ferry labourers and family of armed forces are still struggling to upgrade. Chawla can also be heard complaining about the delay caused during her travel in the Saryu-Yamuna train from Amritsar to Ayodhya, where she goes on to criticise her party leaders for the overall poor quality of trains in India.

Senior @BJP4India leader from Amritsar Laxmi Kanta Chawla tells @narendramodi & @PiyushGoyal to "forget" about #bullettrain and instead focus on those already running.
She made this video aboard the Saryu-Yamuna train which was delayed by 14 hours.

Chawla said that she tried to get through to the railway authorities, using the helpline numbers, but there was no response and even emails to Goyal did not fetch any reply. Chawla also urged Goyal to not commission a separate coach for himself while travelling on Indian trains and travel like a common man instead to know about the problems the commuters face.
