Bhopal: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Basant Pratap Singh was on Thursday appointed as the new Chief Secretary (CS) of Madhya Pradesh. PTI[/caption] The IAS officer of 1984 batch (MP Cadre) will succeed Anonty DeSa who will be retiring from the service on 31 October, an official of the Public Relations department of the Madhya Pradesh government said. Singh will take charge of his new assignment from 1 November. The orders to appoint Singh as the new CS of the state was issued by the Madhya Pradesh government this morning. As per the practise, he will initially take charge as OSD (Officer on Special Duty) of the Chief Secretary Office from Thursday on and as full-fledged CS from 1 November, the official said. At present Singh was posted as Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department, he added.
