Bangalore: The school in Bangalore where a 3-year old girl was sexually assaulted by an office attendant last week re-opened on Monday. The report also noted that Department of Public Instruction in Karnataka is yet to grant permission for classes to restart. The office attendant identified as 45-year old, Gundappa who had been working in the school for the past two years, was arrested by the police on Saturday. The evidences used to narrow down on the accused were the CCTV footage from the school and a photo identification by the victim, reports DNA. A criminal case was registered after a complaint was filed by the victim’s father under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). “I have assured the parents they need not be concerned about the safety of their wards after inspecting the security measures in the school and instructing its management to ensure full compliance with our safety guidelines given to it,” city police commissioner MN Reddi was quoted by Zee News. According to the DNA report, the school has one more fraudulent case pending against it— it was unable to provide any evidences to show that it is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
