Taking the probe forward, the Central Bureau of Investigation, which took over the probe of the 27 May alleged gang rape and murder of two teenage girls in the Katra village of Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh, today sought permission from the victims’ parents to conduct polygraph test on them. The CBI had filed the FIR on the case on 12 June.[caption id=“attachment_1554741” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

While the state police have sought to call the twin murders as honour killing, the families have alleged a cover-up by the Uttar Pradesh Police. On 6 June, the state government had also set up a Special Investigation Team to probe the incident. The autopsy report confirms rape and death due to strangulation.
