Babul Supriyo hit by TMC workers: Venkaiah Naidu strongly condemns attack

New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday condemned the attack on his colleague Babul Supriyo in West Bengal and asked the state government to take immediate action against the guilty. Stressing that political differences would always be there, he called for tolerance among the political parties and respect for each other.

“I strongly condemn the attack on my colleague Babul Supriyo. The state government has to take immediate action against the people responsible for it. “Political differences will always be there. There has to be tolerance among political parties. We must respect each other,” he said on the sidelines of an event here. Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Supriyo was on Wednesday attacked with bricks allegedly by Trinamool Congress activists in Asansol when he was on way to a police station to stage a protest against the arrest of some BJP workers. On the issue of triple talaq, Naidu said many Muslim countries have banned the practice, while it continues in India because of the self-interest of some political parties. “There is no question of forcing anything on anybody… Any religion on anybody. This government does not interfere in religious affairs of anyone at all. When we talk of triple talaq, our aim is justice and equality for women, he said.
