The brother of yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Ram Bharat, has been accused of organising the kidnapping and assault of a former employee who was working in one of the guru’s ashrams. The complainant, Nitin Tyagi, had allegedly gone missing on Monday prompting his relatives to file a complaint with the police, reported CNN-IBN. The police raided the Patanjali ashram that is being run by the yoga guru and discovered that he had been kept there. The victim has alleged that he was kidnapped by Ram Bharat’s bodyguards on his instructions. He said that after being kidnapped he was kept in the ashram and brutally assaulted. According to the victim’s relatives, this prompted the yoga guru’s brother to engineer the kidnapping. However, Zee News quoted the yoga guru’s supporters as saying that Tyagi had been caught stealing by the security staff and had been handed over to the police. The police has arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping but have not been able to find Ram Bharat, who is said to be absconding. The local BJP unit has come out in support of the yoga guru and even held a protest rally outside the police station where the case was registered alleging that it was a Congress ploy to defame Baba Ramdev.
