Ayodhya issue: Nirmohi Akhara denies meeting Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for peaceful negotiations over Ram temple

Nirmohi Akhara on Monday denied Art of Living (AoL) founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s statement that they had met him for peaceful negotiations on the Ram Mandir issue, media reports said. On Monday morning, Sri Sri said: “Nirmohi Akhada were the first people to approach me, they are with me. I have tremendous support from the people of Ayodhya. I am not looking for any credit. I have enough from the world,” CNN-News 18 reported. On Monday afternoon, Sri Sri was seen appealing that the country should not be in a state like Syria. The AoL founder even said that he does not need politics to resolve the Ayodhya issue.

Earlier, on 1 March, Sri Sri had said that they “have been getting good responses from every side” and are talking about harmonious co-existence of both communities and construction of grand Ram temple. “There is a lot of goodwill and cooperation from Muslim community,” Sri Sri was quoted as saying by ANI. AFP[/caption] In the past one year, Sri Sri has interacted with more than 500 leaders in Ayodhya, Bangalore, Lucknow, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai personally or through video conferencing. Recently, he met  expelled AIMPLB member Salman Nadvi  and has plans for a meeting Muslim scholars and Ulemas in Lucknow on 28 March. After meeting Nadvi last week, he had said, “Our efforts are on… towards success and the response from all sides is very good. We will continue (our) efforts. We are talking about maintaining love and harmony between two communities and for a grand Ram temple.” The AoL founder said the effort was to bring in a consensus on the issue. With inputs from PTI
