The horrifying video of a 17-year-old, son of an NCP leader, running over a two-year-old child fatally and then careening out of control to slam into a pillar, has sparked outrage over why the teenager was allowed to get behind the wheel of the car. The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified since he is a minor, is the son of a local NCP leader Abdul Qadeer Maulana, and was driving along at the Hudco TV Centre Chowk street in the city
after dropping
his elder brother to the airport. While negotiating a turn the teenager allegedly lost control and ran over a family of three who were headed to a local temple. The chauffeur of the car was sitting next to him at the time of the incident,

Screengrab of the CCTV footage from Ibnlive.[/caption] CCTV footage of cameras recently installed at the site shows the Sports Utility Vehicle veering out of control and striking the family of three, two young girls and their uncle, who were headed to a nearby temple. One of the girls, a two-year-old, was hit and then run over by the SUV, while the other girl, a five-year-old, and her uncle were thrown aside by the impact of the hit, CNN-IBN reported. The teenager then attempted to speed away, but lost control of the vehicle and struck a motorcycle, whose rider fell down. He then rammed into a pillar and came to a halt. Enraged pedestrians began throwing stones at the stalled vehicle and even attempted to set the vehicle on fire before being dispersed by the police,
reported India Today.
Locals reportedly rushed the injured family members to a nearby hospital where the two-year-old was declared dead. Her sister and her uncle survived with minor injuries. Curiously enough, the police has slapped the chauffeur with a case but there is presently no case against the teenager, reported CNN-IBN. The teen is unlikely to face legal proceedings since he is a minor and could be tried under the Juvenile Justice Act. He is presently in the custody of local police.
