“Despite the improvement in the law and order scenario, the BTAD remains an area of concern. The government is aware of the communal disharmony sought to be created in BTAD areas by some militant outfits and organisations inimical to India,” he said after hoisting the National Flag.

“Such attempts will be dealt with firmly, and the government will make all out efforts to strengthen the security infrastructure and environment in the state and apprehend the perpetrators of inhuman crimes against innocent people,” Gogoi said.

At the same time the government is trying to find peaceful resolution of all issues by taking into confidence of all sections of society, he said in his speech on the occasion of 68th Independence Day celebration.

Taking about the recent spate of violence along the Assam-Nagaland border, the Chief Minister said the state government has taken all possible steps to restore peace and normalcy, and has ordered Chief Secretary level discussion to resolve the problem.

Also, the government has been able to stop the spread of Maoist extremists in the state, he added.

“The government has adopted inclusive strategies to bring misguided youth back to the fold. The strategies adopted by the government resulted in as many as 13 extremist outfits laying down their arms and joining the mainstream,” Gogoi said.
