Guwahati: NIA has filed charge sheet in five cases this month against 26 NDFB(S) militants accused in the killing of tribal villagers and members of the minority community in three Assam districts last year.
The agency has filed three chargesheets against 18 militants of the outlawed outfit accused of killing 41 tribal villagers in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts in December last, a senior NIA official in Guwahati said.
A supplementary chargesheet was filed against six militants along with two others in a separate case this month, in addition to the one filed against two militants in October last year for their alleged involvement in the killing of 39 members of the minority community in Baksa district in May last year, the official said.
The NIA had filed a charge sheet at Special NIA Court, Guwahati yesterday against four NDFB(S) militants in the case where they have been accused of killing six persons in Hatijuli and Shantipur villages under Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district, he said.
The charge sheet was filed against the outfit's 'assistant organising secretary' Sanju Bordoloi alias
Sibigiri, who was arrested in Bangalore early this year, 'commanding officer' of the outfit's third battalion Ajoy Basumatary, 'deputy commanding officer' Nitul Daimary and Bishnu Narzary.
The NIA would continue with further investigation into the case, he said.
The NIA had filed a charge sheet on 3 July against 10 militants accused of killing 10 persons in Pakhiriguri village of Kokrajhar district in December last year, the official said.
The chargesheets were filed against Milan Mushahary, Swmkhar Brahma, Bullet Basumatary, Ganda Basumatary, Bina Basumatary, Jayanto Mushahry, Gautam Mahalia, Khanda Daimary and Dwithai Basumatary.
The investigation agency had filed yet another chargesheet on 13 July against four NDFB(S)militants accused of killing 30 adivasi/santhal villagers at Sonajuli village of Sonitpur district in December last year, he said.
The chargesheeted militants are the self-styled 'commanding officer' of the outfit's 3rd Battalion Ajay
Basumatary, 'assistant forest secretary' Dilip Basumatary, Nitul Daimary and Khamrei Basumatary.
The NIA had registered five cases related to the 23 December 2014 killings by NDFB(S) in Sonitpur and
Kokrajhar districts, of which chargesheets have been submitted in three cases against the 18 militants.
Efforts are on to complete the investigation in a timely manner, the official said.
The NIA has also filed chargesheets on 15 July against six militants in two cases related to killing 39 members of the minority community on 1 May 2014.
In the first case, the charge sheet was filed against two militants -- Bikunash Narzary and Swmkwr Basumatary -- accused of killing three persons at Narsingbari village of Baksa district.
A supplementary charge sheet was filed on 15 July against six others accused of killing 36 villagers and burning houses at Khagrabari village in Baksa district. In the same case a charge sheet was filed against four militants on 31 October 2014 and their trial was under progress in the Special NIA Court, Guwahati.
The NIA would continue further investigation in both the cases as some hardcore NDFB(S) militants are yet to be apprehended, the official said.
