Jammu: The army would continue to conduct people-friendly operations without tolerating any human rights violations, a defence spokesman said in Jammu today. Northern Command chief Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, who met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today, reiterated the Army’s commitment to zero tolerance towards the human rights violations and that cases of misdemeanor, if any, would be dealt severely.[caption id=“attachment_1320017” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Northern Command chief Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra. Image courtesy Indian Army[/caption] The Commander during his meeting with the chief minister also briefed him on the recent counter terrorist operations, security situations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the recently held talks between the BSF and Pakistan Rangers DGMOs in Lahore, defence spokesman said in Jammu. The Commander further assured Omar that Army would continue with people-friendly operations and no inconvenience would be caused to the people during such operations. Lt Gen Chachra, who is currently on a three-day tour to the Valley to review the security situation, visited forward posts and interacted with officers and jawans there. PTI
