The CBI today questioned Lt General (retired) Tejinder Singh for his alleged involvement in offering a bribe of Rs 14 crore to Army chief VK Singh in order to approve a defence equipment procurement contract. [/caption]While details of the questioning were not made available immediately, television channels reported that the former army official was asked about his meeting with General VK Singh in which he had reportedly offered the bribe. Lt General (retired) Tejinder Singh had claimed that he had met with the senior army official in order to seek his support in obtaining a government post. The former army official has already filed a case of defamation against the Army chief for alleging his involvement in the scandal. He has also filed an application against a press release issued by the Army in which it was alleged he had offered a bribe. Media reports had stated that General VK Singh had alleged that the Tejinder Singh had offered him a bribe on behalf of the Vectra group which imports the Tatra trucks for the Indian Army.
