Another first: Social media pro PM Modi first global leader to tweet audio, video

Prime Minister Narendra Modi always loved social media–from his election campaign days to sharing selfies and quoting DDLJ dialgoues–the Indian Prime Minister has done it all, on Twitter. PTI[/caption] And on Thursday, he became the world’s first leader to send out an audio-video tweet, when he tweeted a conversation between him and US President Barack Obama during “Mann Ki Baat”.

In his first video tweet, the PM had tweeted glimpses from the NCC Rally that he had addressed.

Earlier during his visit to Australia, the prime minister also became the first leader to use Twitter Mirror,  a backstage ‘photo-booth’ for behind-the-scenes and exclusive moments involving live events. The PM tweeted an autographed selfie using the tool with the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Modi ranks second behind only Barack Obama in number of fans of his official Facebook page. His Twitter account and that of his office are among the fastest growing among politicians and elected officials worldwide. With 9.76 million followers on Twitter, Modi trails only Obama, the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis on Twitter.
