The BSF had on Tuesday declined to comment on the violations of the 2003 India-Pakistan ceasefire in Kashmir. “The firing by Pakistan Rangers started around noon and continued for 15 minutes,” the officer said. “They used automatics and light weapons. Our troops responded with equal calibre weapons.” While the Indian Army guards the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the BSF is posted along the international border.
