Anna, VK Singh demand immediate dissolution of Parl

In a joint press conference in Mumbai today, anti-graft activist Anna Hazare and former Army Chief General VK Singh attacked the UPA government saying that the government has crossed all the limits of corruption and hence the Parliament should be dissolved. “This government is anti-people. Remove the ministers, dissolve the Parliament. Let elections be held now so that the people can indicate if they are satisfied with all this,” Singh said. “A new set of parliamentarians are needed. The country belongs to the people, they must bring down this government,” he added. Screen grab/ ibnlive[/caption] Hazare announced a tour across the country with VK Singh starting from 30 January. “We have to change the country, we have to remove corruption. Nobody sitting in Parliament cares. That’s why we want the people to participate,” he said. There are however no plans for any sort of agitation to this effect. Speaking on land acquisition, VK Singh said that the ‘aam aadmi’ owns the land and the government does not have the right to take away their properties. “Farmers’ land being given away by the government to corporates..Foreigners are given access to our natural resources, big industry is set up..Poor people don’t benefit from this..” he said. On the issue of black money, Singh said, “Bring back black money from foreign banks -why does no party fight for this?” Singh also said that the country must ‘rise and awake now’. “This government is looting even more than the British did. We have to bring down this government.”
