In Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district, an 8-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three of her school teenage seniors who later killed and dumped her body in a canal to destroy evidence, police said.
The victim, a student of Class 3, had been missing since Sunday. On July 7, she went to play at a park in Machumarri, over 300 km from Andhra Pradesh. When she did not return till late evening, the minor victim’s father had filed a missing complaint at the local police station.
Soon, the cops swept into action and initiated a search. They also quizzed local residents for leads to trace the missing girl, but they could not find her.
With no whereabouts of the girl, police had pressed the dog squad into action. The sniffer dog then helped the cops to reach the accused.
On Wednesday, police said that the dog led them to the crime scene and later also stopped at the house of all the three accused.
Two of the accused are 12 years old and study in the sixth standard, while the third, aged 13, is a class 7 student.
The trio were apprehended and investigated. During the questioning, all the three students admitted to raping and murdering the girl, police said.

In their confession, the three boys told the police that they spotted the girl playing near Muchumarri park.

Killed & dumped body in nearby canal
After committing the heinous crime, the boys murdered her as they were scared of being arrested if the girl complained to her parents about rape.
When they managed to kill her, they pushed her body into a nearby canal and fled from the spot.
Accused keep visiting the crime spot daily
Cops said even as they kept searching for the girl, the accused went on with their routine schedule to the crime spot as if nothing had happened.
Police are yet to trace the body of the girl.
