A 32-year-old engineer has been arrested from Gujarat by the Mumbai Police on Tuesday for his social media post on a bomb threat at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding.
After getting to know about the social media post regarding a potential bomb threat at industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani’s wedding, the Mumbai police quickly swept into action and launched a probe.
What did the post say?
The post shared on X by a user, @ffsfir, read: “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani’s wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code.”
After the post on social media caught the attention of Mumbai Police, they deemed the bomb threat a hoax, but intensified the security measures in and around Anant-Radhika wedding event on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Probe leads police to Vadodara
The cops investigating Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding bomb threat post traced the user Vadodara where a team from the Mumbai crime branch detained Viral Shah from his residence.
“He was nabbed this (Tuesday) morning by the Mumbai police’s crime branch from his residence in Gujarat,” a police official was quoted as saying by PTI.
Anant is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. He got married to Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.
A host of celebrities from across the world, business tycoons, billionaires, cricketers, top politicians were present at the wedding on July 12.
