 "Anant Ambani's Vantara wins 'Prani Mitra' award, India’s highest honour for animal welfare in ‘corporate’ category")
The Government of India has conferred the prestigious ‘Prani Mitra’ National Award, the country’s highest honour for animal welfare, to Anant Ambani’s Vantara under the ‘Corporate’ category. The award recognises the contributions made by the Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust (RKTEWT), an organisation under Vantara that looks after the rescue, treatment, and lifelong care of elephants.
Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre serves as a sanctuary for over 240 rescued elephants, offering them a safe and enriching environment. Among its residents are 30 elephants formerly used in circuses, over 100 rescued from the logging industry, and many others freed from exploitative activities like street begging and tourist rides. The centre is dedicated to ensuring the well-being of these animals, providing them with the care and security they need to heal and thrive.
Covering 998 acres of carefully designed forest, Vantara allows the elephants to live as naturally as possible, giving them the freedom to roam, interact, and engage in instinctive behaviours like foraging and bathing.
The award was presented by the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying at a ceremony in New Delhi on Thursday.

We remain relentless in our mission to elevate welfare standards, drive impactful initiatives, and safeguard India’s rich biodiversity for generations to come," Vivaan Karani, the CEO of Vantara said.
Vantara’s Elephant Care Centre houses the world’s largest elephant hospital, combining allopathy with alternative treatments like Ayurveda for chronic conditions and acupuncture for pain relief. Its advanced facilities include a hydrotherapy pond for arthritis, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for wound healing, and a specialized foot care unit with pedicure experts.
