In a historic move, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) is set to launch four variants of Amul fresh milk in the United States, marking the brand’s debut outside India. This initiative aims to serve the Indian diaspora and Asian communities residing in the US.
GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta expressed, “While we have a longstanding history of exporting dairy products, this marks the inaugural launch of fresh milk beyond Indian borders.”
The partnership between GCMMF and the 108-year-old cooperative organization, Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), will facilitate the introduction of fresh milk into the US market. MMPA will handle milk collection and processing, while GCMMF will oversee marketing and branding efforts for Amul fresh milk.
Mehta further elaborated, “We will provide the recipes, and within a week, consumers in the US can enjoy Amul Taaza, Amul Gold, Amul Shakti, and Amul Slim n Trim.”
The availability of fresh milk will initially target key cities such as New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Washington, Dallas, and Texas, among others. GCMMF aims to cater to the preferences of non-resident Indians (NRIs) and the wider Asian demographic within the US market.
Asked about the selling target, he said GCMMF will focus on branding and marketing for the next 3-4 months.
“We are expecting a good response from customers,” he said.
