The Uttar Pradesh Assembly was today a picture of chaos as BJP MLAs began stagign a protest against the Samajwadi Party government outside the office of the Speaker. The legislators hit out at the Akhilesh Yadav-led government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The SP government has been under fire after the recent spate of attacks on women and minor girls in the state. This is the second such protest by BJP workers in the state. After the gangrape of two minors in Badaun last month, the BJP women’s cell workers in the state protested against the SP government. Water cannons were used to quell protests at the time.
Two teenaged girls were gangraped in Badaun last month and hanged from a tree, sparking protests in the state over the law and order situation.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh had recently announced he was “closely monitoring” the prevailing law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
