Akasa Air introduces 'QuietFlights', know what they are

Akasa Air, India’s commercial airline launched in August 2022, has introduced “QuietFlights” for passengers. This one-of-a-kind initiative has been introduced for travellers flying during early morning and late-night hours.

What is Akasa Air’s ‘QuietFlights’?

1 - ‘QuietFlights’ initiative has been introduced for aircrafts operating between 10 pm to 6 am.

2 - The airline said it will minimise announcement for its flights operating between these hours.

3 - Akasa Air said the announcement will be minimised to essential safety messages and adjust cabin lights.

4 - The airline said the decision has been taken to allow passengers to have “uninterrupted relaxation and privacy.”

“The ‘QuietFlights’ initiative reinforces our commitment to create a comfortable, relaxed and peaceful cabin experience,” Belson Coutinho, Akasa Air’s Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer, said.

“In today’s fast-paced day-to-day lifestyle, QuietFlights has been consciously designed to help passengers unwind with announcements minimised to the essential safety announcements combined with ambient cabin lighting that creates a calming inflight experience,” Coutinho further said.

Akasa Air flights connect 22 domestic and three international destinations, namely Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Port Blair, Ayodhya, Gwalior, Srinagar, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Doha (Qatar), Jeddah and Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

Akasa Air will complete two years of operations in August this year. It has become the first airline globally to have a fleet of 20 aircraft.

In January 2024, Akasa Air placed a fresh order of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at WINGS India 2024 in Hyderabad, becoming the first airline to announce such an order in the country.

Back in 2021, the airline placed its initial order of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which was followed up with an order of four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2023. Akasa’s order book stands for around 226 aircraft.
