Akali Dal leader Ranbir Singh Rana has been arrested for shooting dead a policeman who tried to stop him from harassing his daughter. Assistant Sub Inspector of the Punjab Police, Ravinder Singh, was shot meters from the local police station, but eye witnesses claim that the police delayed getting there. [caption id=“attachment_547213” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Representational Image[/caption] The Hindustan Times reported that police had registered a case under section 302 and arms Act against Ranjit Singh Rana, one Gurveer Singh and another unidentified person. Rana is reportedly a general secretaries in the district body of the Akali party. Eyewitnesses said that Singh was initially shot in the legs, but the accused had returned in about 20 minutes with a rifle and shot him him in the chest. Police Commissioner Ram Singh told NDTV that the police officer’s daughter, who is a bank employee, had told her father that Mr Rana and his men would stop her on her way to office and pass lewd comments.
